Yuppie Alert: Daily Work Routine Tips for You

Two years ago, I discovered this slang while I was roaming around the beautiful streets of Washington DC.

A Yuppie.

The man said, "This is where most yuppies live in DC", referring to this certain street near Dupont Circle, as I cannot remember the specific name of the place.

And I'm like, A Yuppie? What's that? A Hipster Puppy? A Yummy Krispie?

A Young Professional, apparently.

I am so tempted to post my picture wearing a corporate office attire, but I won't. :P Instead...

Anyways, enough of the crazy stuff. :')

I would like to share some daily work tips with you that has been part of my routine (that has kept me sane, happy and healthy for most of my days) and you might want to considering adding them up to yours as well and see how it works for you! :)

1. 20 Minute Meditation

Yup, you got that right. Every single time I wake up in the morning, I say my prayer of gratitude for a new, blessed day to the Lord, drink my hot lemon and honey water and set up my alarm for 20 minutes. I sit down(as much as possible) with my legs crossed, or sometimes lie down when I feel like it, giving myself that time to just be...I consider it as a morning treat cause I know that it's going to be a busy day at work, with family and loved ones - and giving yourself that time to be still, a full time to be yourself - is one of the best gifts you could ever give.

Try it for consistently for a week and see the difference. :)

2. Regular Morning Exercise

This. On days when you feel so lazy to workout, those are the DAYS THAT YOU REALLY SHOULD. I have learned that the hard way, believe me.

Whether that be a 20 minute brisk walk, a jog around your village, a 20 minute HIIT workout, or even a calming Yoga and Tai Chi practice, DO IT. Your daily sweat would bring such wonderful benefits to your day (thank you so much endorphiiins, we love youuuu!) and you would be choosing healthier food throughout. :) Say goodbye to American and Chinese takeouts! ;)

Ain't the most flattering picture, but yeah, PUSH IT!

3. Deep Belly Breathing

Breathe in..breathe out...

Breath is the foundation of LIFE. Oftentimes, we find ourselves holding our breaths whenever we feel intense emotions. I find this very helpful at work, I even have POST IT REMINDER that says, Breathe deeply Princess in front of my desk. Being aware of one's breath brings a person back to awareness of the present moment..thus, removing ourselves of the stress and worries that we have(which we often create too as well.)

4. Regular Stretch Breaks at Work

I swear by this. Haha! If you're fortunate enough to have an open balcony at work, then by all means, take advantage of it, go out. Stretch from side to side. Bring one leg up and stretch, then the other. After setting up my work station(now why does that sound like setting up my mise en place in the kitchen?), I always go out first and breathe..Before having lunch, in the afternoon at around 3-4 PM and I'm still working on my lazy bone to go out and stretch before going home every night. I might just do that later! I mean, talk about the intense crowd pushing, pulling, and all that along Ayala Avenue.

IT'S JUST. I-N-S-A-N-E.

5. Bring Your Own Healthy Baon

Is it just me? No it's not just me. A lot of people are already doing this. You can opt for the convenience of healthy meals delivered at your doorstep, at a higher price of course. Or, you can MAKE your OWN healthy and delicious meals. :) It may take some of your time, but I swear the extra love and energy that you put in creating your food IS WORTH IT. :)

I prepared the following today (I'm manifesting a good quality camera phone that I may be able to share good photos of my food with you very soon!):

  • Almond Milk Oatmeal Porridge with Prunes
  • Gluten Free Veggie Tuna and Mushroom Pasta
  • Mango Cubes and Greek Yogurt
  • Boiled Kangkong, Veggie Lumpia and Tuna Adobo

I also brought a teeny tiny piece of 70% dark chocolate with me today just in case. ;)

HAHAHAHA!

And guess what, it took me under one hour to prepare all of that this morning and so CAN YOU! :D You just have to WANT IT AND MAKE TIME FOR IT.

And the best thing EVER that we all should do daily? :)

SMILE AND Be YOURSELF.

That's the best gift you could offer to the world.
