Julia's Pie Social: A Sweet Inspiration

 Do you love pies?
 *wink

Do you love having your friends over to your place?(they are a few of my dearest friends - EVER! and I terribly miss them!)

Or do you just want to chill and hang out?

If you do, then why not try to put all those together and have a small gathering of friends and eat scrumptious pies and hang out playing some really fun card games? Sounds good, right? :)

Recently, Wenelie(a friend from Church) invited me to go this friend of hers who, for some reason, baked and experimented with pies in the last few weeks and randomly decided to invite friends over to have some PIEE SOCIAAAAL!!! :))

Isn't this such a fabulous idea???

I haven't been out that much here in LA with friends(I don't have that much friends in here to begin with!!LOL! except Amanda & Waki who's visiting in December! :D) so I decided, why not try it, just go, have fun and meet new people? :)))))

Well, I can say that I'm very happy that I did cause not only I got to hang out with Wenelie and her brother, who actually introduced me to this type of music which I instantly fell in loove with! It's called JAWAIIAN which is apparently a mix of Jamaican & Hawaiian music! What's really nice about Jawaiian music is the smooth, easy vibe that goes with it which just makes you feel you're chilling in the heavenly beaches of Hawaii! :) Try listening to it guys! I swear you'll loooove it!

Okay, enough about Jawaiian music! HAHAHAH!

Going back to socials & pies, to say that Julia's version of peanut butter banana cream cheese pie is scrumptious IS SUCH AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!!

I was really not a fan of pies before cause all I loved back then were cupcakes, cupcakes & cupcakes!!! Refer here to my post about cupcakes in DC! :D

http://worldtravelerandbaker.blogspot.com/2012/09/dc-cupcakes-not-your-usual-guide.html
But when I tasted all her different piiiieees, they just sent me straight to PIE HEAVEEEEEN and for a few hours, I, along with Wenelie and the others instantly became PIE GIRLS! :))))

Look at our faces!! We can't hiide our happiness with all theese super yummy piiiies in our tummyyy! :)))

I know you've been waiting for this guys!!!

Feast your eyes, with Julia's piiieees! <3

Here's an Apple Walnuuut Pie! Just tasted a bit of this one cause my tummy couldn't take one whole slice anymore! hahahaha!

Here's a fresh banna cream piiieeeee which is very very light but very delicious indeed!

Here's my ULTIMATE ULTIMATE FAVORIIITE! It's a peanut butter banana cream cheese pie which was so goooood! You don't even want to know how many calories are there per slice!

Imagine a nougatine like crust with a decadent chocolate layer, plus peanut butter & cream cheeese and a generous serving of sliced bananas...Man, I'm literally craving right now while I'm writing this!!!

To top all of that is a serving of fresh whipped cream drizzled with nuts and chocolaate!!! And that's what I call THE BOMB PIE!!! I even ate two huuge slices of these with vanilla ice cream from Trader Joe's! *now that explains my chubby cheeks which I'm trying to get rid of right now! :DDD

Whew! I dunno but I seriously felt tired(and craviing) after writing all of thaat!!! Don't worry guuys! I'll ask Julia for the recipe and modify it to my own version so that I could share it with you on this Princess Pastry Social that I'm planning when I get back to the Philippines! :))))

Oh! And how could I ever forget these PECAN BAAARS?!?!?

They're chewy goooeeey goodness and just have the right amount of sweetness! They're even better with your favorite ice cream!

Julia also baked a Chocolate Creme Pie, a Pumpkin Pie and a Pumpkin Cheesecake which I had a chance to taste as well! :))))) They're so good that I literally didn't care about calories during that night cause they're just so worth every single bite!

Well that night wasn't just about all these pies though, that's why it's called a PIE SOCIAL, you get to eat pies(which I'm super happy about!) and you get to SOCIALize with people too! Too bad we weren't able to take pictures cause we were just so into playing this card game called Apples to Apples!

Basically, there's a judge at every round who's going to pick a green card wherein everyone else would look for their own cards that strongly associate with the judge's card. At the end of each round, the judge gets to choose which he thinks is the best card!

DID I BORE YOU FOR A FEW SECONDS THERE? ;)

Here's an example:

Say you're the judge, picking from the green stacks of apple card, you got the word,   SWEET.

All the other players, will look into his set of cards(which are 7 by the way and which could include famous persons, things, places and other crazy stuff), and find one that he thinks is best associated with the word sweet. :) Lucky if you'll have cupcakes, cookies, PIES, cakes in your hand but in the end, it's still you -the judge- who's going to decide which you think is the BEST CARD FOR IT! If someone puts a card which says TOOTH and you associate it with the word sweet, then you can definitely choose that! :) It may not necessarily be synonymous to what the green card says, you may choose a card that is completely contradictory to it! :DDD

Sounds fun?

It's even better when you play it! :DDD The game ends with the first person collecting 4 green cards! :))))

Funny thing that I remember during two of our many games, we had a deal that whoever wins the game gets the whole pie of his choice! I was so ecstatic to win the game cause I badly wanted the peanut butter banana pieeeeeeeeee, I remember I even won three consecutive green cards, but oh well, the pie's not for me! hahahah! So I just had my last serviing! ;)

It was a really nice experience cause I got to meet new people, play cards with them and eat pieeees! :)))

And it just hit me, why not do the same thing in the Philippines when I get back this January? :)

HMMM. WHY NOT, RIGHT? :D

I know that would be a really fun idea to reconnect with old friends and share my passion for bakiing & sweets! That's why right now, I'm building up my baking portfolio so I could serve a variety of pastries for my dearest family & friends back there! :)))) Just baked some cheesecake brownies & vanilla cupcakes yesterday(upcoming bloooog!) and I've got a whole lot of sweet treats to gooooo!!! I seriously can't waiiiit!!!

So expect an invitation very soon this coming 2013 for a

Princess Pastry Social! :))))

Keep posted for more guys! :))

Baking from the heart,

Pastry Princess
