For the love of Oats and Cookies!

Do you have those times when you just have that sudden impulse to do something on an ordinary day?

Like you just woke up and decided that you want to have a major haircut, color your hair red, or even host a partyyy! Aren't those one of the best daays in your life? :)

Well, obviously in my case,

IT'S THIIIS!!!

One week ago(yeah I know, super laate post but I'm still posting this anywaay! :D), I woke up and felt that a part of me was missing(I know that's a little too dramatic!), realizing that I haven't baked for almost three weeks since I came in DC!! So right there and then, I decided to BAKE! I seriously went straight to the nearest Giant supermarket and bought all the ingredients that I needed for my first bakiiing experiment with

Oatmeal

Raisins

and Chocolaate Chiips!!!

I was never really a big fan of oatmeal cookies cause I originally thought that adding oatmeal would lessen the yumminess of a cookie but I WAS SO WROOONG! It's actually a nice base dough for almost anyyy type of cookie that you want to bake! Plus it's really healthy too!!

Who could ever resiiist those little chocolate chips that melt in your mouth with every biiite? Or the chewiness brought about by those healthy oatmeal chunks in your cookie? Even though I baked most of the cookies in this post a week ago,

I can still feel that urge to just go down to the kitchen, get the cookie jar, and just eat ALL THE COOKIES LEFT.
Okay, in times like this, and I would love to share this simple chant with cookie lovers out there who don't want to gain a lot of extra pounds!

FIGHT THE URGE! FIGHT THE URGE! FIGHT THE URGE!

I know it's hard, I FEEL YOUUU, I REALLY DO!

Cause in my 19 and a few months of existence, I have never, EVER, met a person who would turn down a freshly home-baked cookie!! Even super health conscious people, vegans and vegetarians alike would be happyyy to have one!

(Interested about Vegan sweets and treats? You might want to check out my previous post on being Vegan here:
http://worldtravelerandbaker.blogspot.com/2012/09/so-do-you-wanna-be-vegan.html)

Going baack to thaat sudden impulse that I had to bake, I had a reallyyy crazyy idea the next day which is what I really want to share with you guys! As I've previously mentioned, an oatmeal cookie dough would be a nice base for literallyyy anythiing that you want to have in your cookie!

You can add a bar of snickers, peanut blossoms, white choco chips, butter scotch chips, walnuts, cashews, heath toffee bars, strawberries, blueberries(even some jam if you like), peanuut buutter, M&Ms, oreos, and even potatoo chips!!! :))

The liiist is ENDLESSSSS!!! You just have to use your imaginatioon to make your customized cookiies! Let mee shaare some wiith youu!! :DDD

Just because we had some strawberries during that time(pluuus strawberryyy jaam too!),

I decided to maaake, White Chocolate Chip Strawberry Oatmeal Cookies!!!!

Well they turned out okay but I still need to make adjustments to the recipe! Lesson learned from this experiment:

DON'T PUT TOO MUCH STRAWBERRY JAM ON THE DOUGH MIXTURE!

Well I guess I was too excited at that time so the dough was really out of form that I had to put the whole thing in the freezer for an hour so that I could actually form them into cookie balls. And one more thing, it usually takes only 10-12 minutes to bake cookies but because of the super moistness of this dough, I had to extend it to around 15-20 mins to make sure it's properly baked! On a positive note, the white choco chip & strawberry combination deserves a THUMBS UP! :D

Well I guess I was not contented with experimenting with just one! Haha! Shout out to Peanuut Butter lovers out theere!!!

Unlike the white choco strawberry, the peanut butter dough turned ouuut reallyy fiine!! :) I know there's still a lot of room for improvements on this! I guess more chocolate chips next time!( WHO DOESN'T LOOOVE CHOCOLATE CHIIPS ANYWAAY?) Haha! You also might want to try to use chunky peanut butter too or just add some peanuts for more flavooor! (WILL DEFINITELY TRY THAT NEXT TIME!)

I also made another batch of the oatmeal chocolate chip raisiin cookieees for the second tiime!!!

And VOILAAAAAAA!!! An Oatmeaal Cookie Assembly!!!

I almost forgot to mention, when you like your cookies to be really chewyyy, it's advisable that you chill the dough first for at least an houur! I can asuure youu, the waiit is really worth it! :))))

So don't be afraiid to tryy out new things especially when it comes to bakiing! I guess that's how all those yummy macaroons & eclairs & croissants came to life - through endless experiments! And applying that in real life, that's how you learn! :)

I know I still have a loooot of things to know and experience when it comes to bakiing! But hey, it's just the beginning! :))))

Till our neext bakiing adventuuure!!!

Lots of love,

Pastryy Princess
